The Goochland Mass Meeting is September 30th, 2026. See the call here.
The 5th Congressional District November 14th Convention call is here.
The purpose of the Mass Meeting is to “reconstitute” the existing committee. At the Mass meeting we will elect a Chairman, committee members for a two year period for 2027-2028, and elect delegates to the 5th Congressional District Convention in November.
How to file?
- for Mass Meeting Attendance
- for Joining the reconstituted Goochland County Republican Committee
- for Running for Goochland County Republican Committee Chair
- for being a Delegate to the 5th Congressional District Convention
The answer is: Fill out forms.
Start with this one. Combined Pre-Filing form. Download it, fill it out, print it, sign it, and mail it in.
Conclude with this one. Yes, it is redundant. Fill it out completely and include it with the above form.
The two forms need to be received by September 18th, 2026 at 5:00 PM.
Use one check in the amount on the prefile form and include it with both forms.
See the forms for more information.
Why the Goochland Republican Mass Meeting is in September instead of March/April
The April 21, 2026 redistricting amendment put the very existence and boundaries of the 5th Congressional District in serious question. The proposed Democratic-drawn map would have radically redrawn the 5th CD—shifting it eastward, removing core Southside and central Virginia areas, and transforming it from a solid Republican seat into a Democratic-leaning one.
Until the Virginia Supreme Court voided the referendum on May 8, 2026 (restoring the prior districts), unit committees could not reliably plan spring mass meetings or elect delegates for the 5th District Convention. The September 30 date allows the Goochland County Republican Committee to proceed once district lines were confirmed.
